Clinical Services - Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Group for Social Anxiety

Be here now.
Every day, thousands of us struggle with anxiety in social situations. We might feel afraid or panicked when we have to speak in front of groups or meet new people. Our anxious thoughts may seem so strong that we start avoiding social events or speaking up at meetings. We might start to feel that the anxiety is taking over, pulling us away from living in each moment.

Mindfulness, defined as compassionate awareness of the present moment, helps disengage the anxiety autopilot in our minds. Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to life that allows us to access the innate wisdom and potential for healing that resides within each of us. Clinical research has found mindfulness to be effective as a treatment for many kinds of anxiety, as well as other experiences such as depression or physical illness.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is an 12-week course that combines mindfulness training with cognitive therapy techniques. By cultivating mindful attention towards everyday social activities, emotions, and interactions, participants will awaken to a deeper awareness of themselves and discover a more fulfilling way of life.
