Clinical Services - Exercise and Fitness Programs



Exercise services at the Yale Stress Center are completely tailored for the individual from start to finish. You will enjoy fun, informative, and individualized programs and services with assessments and consulting from a professional nutritionist and exercise physiologist. All services are provided in a private and comfortable setting so we can completely focus on you. Based on your progress, continuation in the programs may also be recommended.

We offer the following services:

YSC weight loss program: This is a 12 week weight loss program that meets once a week. You will receive an initial fitness assessment, pre- and post-body composition assessments, one-on-one counseling from a nutritionist and an exercise physiologist, SOAR group weight loss course (see description below), behavior change assistance and other helpful activities. See packages section for more details on this program.

SOAR group weight loss course: This 10 week course will inform you about the best ways to lose weight and keep it off. This course meets once a week for 55 minutes with half the course devoted to learning from our experts and half devoted to activities and peer support.

Body composition assessment: This assessment will determine %fat and amount of muscle and bone mass. Measurements are made with DXA technology, the gold standard for body composition. We also include analysis of skinfolds and body circumferences.

Healthy You! Basic fitness assessment: This assessment includes basic aerobic fitness and body composition measures and is for individuals who are ready to make initial changes to their fitness. We can provide baseline values and post-fitness program changes in fitness.

Fitness Focus Advanced fitness assessment: This assessment includes more advanced aerobic fitness and simple body composition measures and is for individuals who are already exercising and want to make improvements or have reached a plateau.
